Why the name Petra? Petra is the Greek word for “rock” and it refers to a solid foundation.

There’s this story about this wise man that built his house upon the rock and when the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, it didn’t fall because it was founded upon the rock.

Then there’s a foolish man that build his house on the sand and when the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, it fell because it didn’t have solid foundation.
